Power VMOS or MOS transistors are not yet very easily found in our market (1990), but if the reader wants to take advantage of one, in an experimental project, here is an example of use. It is a flasher where an astounding 555 excites a power MOS and which is charged with a 12 V incandescent lamp with a current of up to 500 mA. The circuit frequency is determined by the capacitor and adjusted in the trimpot. The blinking duration can be adjusted depending on changes in the 22k resistor value between pins 7 and 6. This resistor can have values in the range from 100k to 100k. The circuit supply is 12, but voltages of 6 or 9 V can be used with changes in the lamp used.
