This project came out in an article of mine (Newton C. Braga) in the Popular Electronics magazine of February 1999. It is a small inverter that can also be used as small ultraviolet lamps for researching minerals and animal-plant fluorescence. The circuit uses a Darlington and a small power transformer with 110 V or 220 V primary and 6 to 12 V secondary with 200 to 500 mA current.
