This circuit uses a large surface diode to detect radiation (alpha and beta particles, in addition to gamma rays). The circuit has low consumption and can be powered by battery. The output can be applied to a high impedance headset, an amplifier or an integrated circuit. Operational amplifiers equivalent to the original can be tried, as well as other types of sensor diodes.
