This circuit, obtained in a 1994 documentation, uses an SCR in a relaxation oscillator to raise the voltage of 12 V x 800 mA at high voltage, through a power transformer. The voltage is higher than that specified for the transformer because the waveform is not sinusoidal, showing quite sharp peaks given the oscillator's operation. The SCR must have a heat sink and equivalent types can be tried.
