This circuit is from a technical documentation from 1978. The maximum output current is of the order of 50 mA and the JFET can be BF245 or MPF102. The maximum input voltage is of the order of 15 V and the zener determines the output voltage. The circuit can also be implemented with the BD135 for higher currents, up to about 200 mA.
