This circuit was found in an English publication from 1991. As in that country the power grid is 50 Hz and in other 60 Hz, the 100nF timing capacitor must be increased to 120nF. The transistor can be TIP31 or BD135 and the transformer must have 500 mA or more of secondary. You can also increase the capacitor to 180nF for a charge of approximately 16 hours. The accuracy depends on the tolerance of the components used.
