This configuration of variable voltage regulator from 3 to 30 V with 100 mA maximum current was obtained in a 1977 manual. Transistor Q1 can be BC548. In fact, with 2N3055, we believe that the actual maximum current may be much higher than that indicated in the publication. Equivalent operational amplifiers can be used, and the source must be symmetrical.
