We found this circuit in a 1978 publication. It is possible to detect the emission of infrared in remote controls, alarms, and other applications. The transistor can be the BC548 and the power is provided by a 9 V battery. The diode can be any one for general use. Equivalent operational amplifiers can be tried out. R1 determines the sensitivity and can be changed.
