Taking advantage of the two stable states of a tunnel diode it is possible to build a switching circuit as shown. This circuit was found in a 1976 publication and the critical component is the tunnel diode. When switch S1 is activated, the circuit goes to its stable state with the power on. The characteristic of this circuit is the extremely fast switching.
