The circuit shown in the figure is indicated for alternative energy sources, such as those obtained from a bicycle dynamo. The dynamo can be coupled to mechanical energy production systems such as: waterfalls, windmills, etc. The 7806 integrated circuit must have a good heat sink and the maximum current obtained at the output must not exceed 1 amp. With the presence of the regulator, the circuit can safely supply small electronic devices such as radios, recorders, etc., without the danger of overloads caused by the fluctuation of the voltage that a common dynamo presents when in normal operation. The LED only serves to indicate that power is being produced, and acts as a load on the circuit when there is nothing connected to its output.
