This didactic circuit was found in an English publication of 1965. The sensor is an LDR and instead of the original transistors we can mount it with more modern types like BC558 and inverting the power and D1 we can use BC548. The circuit can be powered by 6V or even higher voltage if we replace the lamp with an LED in series with a 470 ohms resistor at 1 k.
