With the values indicated for this circuit, the lamp will flash 60 times per minute (1 per second). The circuit is from the RCA transistors manual, and equivalents such as BC558 for 2N217, BD136 for 2N270 and TIP32 for 2N441 can be used for lamps up to 2 A.
