In need of a small amplifying stage for an intercom, radio or other type of device powered by batteries or voltages up to 9 V, this circuit is ideal. The LM386 integrated circuit can deliver up to 500 mW at 8 ohm loads and has excellent voltage gain. The volume control consists of a 10k ohms potentiometer and the capacitor between pins 1 and 8 programs the voltage gain.
