The voltage of 13.2 V is closer than what we find in a car battery than 12 V. Thus, a 13.2 V zener can be used in a source that supplies automotive equipment more properly. A zener of this type can be improvised with a 12 V zener and two common diodes, as shown in the figure. Using the same reasoning, we can increase the voltage of any zener in 0.6 V steps.
