The gain of this circuit is given by the value of R1 that depends on the current in the photodiode. The current in the photodiode is a function of both the lighting and its characteristics. The circuit can be used as an interface for infrared sensors or even remote controls. The operational amplifier must be supplied with a symmetrical source of 6 to 12 V. Equivalent operational amplifiers can be used, and only possible high frequency modulation of the signals should be considered, which must be within the operating capacity of the chosen component.
