This circuit serves as the basis for applications such as timers and alarms, being its base two of the four Schmitt trigger ports contained in an integrated CMOS 4093. With the transition from the high level to the low level of the input signal (which must be maintained), the monostable it fires, leaving its exit from the high level to the low level, and remaining in that last level, for a time that depends on R and C (approximately t = 1.1 x R x C). After the interval determined by the components, the output level returns to the top. The maximum value of C is around 470 uF while R can assume values as high as 2 M ohms.
