A small voltage-boosting transformer is used in this pulse generator circuit found in documentation from the 1980s. Only the voltage is high, as the circuit current is low, given the characteristics of the single-jointed transistor used. The power can be between 9 and 18 V and the resistor without value determines the pulse rate.
