Voltage sensitive switch using Triac (CB9508E)

In this 1974 circuit, the Triac fires when the neon lamp reaches its ionization voltage of around 85 to 90 V. In these conditions, the triac conducts, powering a load or burning a fuse in a crowbar protection.
