SIDACs are not very common, but if you get one you can mount a relaxation oscillator capable of generating very high voltages, in the order of tens of thousands of volts. The T1 transformer can be an old TV fly back where the low voltage winding consists of 10 to 20 turns of common wire at the bottom of the ferrite core. The circuit is from Newton C.
