The input impedance of this circuit is very high, on the order of 4M ohm and the output impedance is very low, so the voltage gain is less than 1 but the power gain is high. The circuit acts as an impedance matcher and equivalent transistors like the BC549 can be used. The circuit is from an English publication from the 80s.
