This circuit was found in a Modern Electronics from 1990. It activates an old electromechanical pulse counter, which can still be found on certain machines. The circuit also works with 12 and 15 V. The MOSFET can be any equivalent type and the sensitivity potentiometer R1 can be 47 k. The sensor is a common LDR.
