In the original version of this 1987 circuit, the loads are lamps, but it can be adapted to drive a good number of power LEDs. For lamps above 500 mA, the power transistors must be equipped with heat sinks. The frequency of blinking must be adjusted in potentiometer P1. In the original version the lamps are 6 V, but the circuit also works with 12, using lamps for this voltage.
