This circuit is based on an LM123 and can supply output currents up to 3A. IB is typically 3.5A and the components can be calculated using the formula next to the diagram in the figure. For a 2 A constant current source, R must be 2.5 ohms and 15 W dissipation. The compliance of the output voltage must be equal to the input voltage minus 7.5 V. The LM123 must be mounted on a good heat radiator. A possible application for this circuit is as a battery charger.
